Hyderabad histiory starts from - Quli Qutub Shah seized the reins of power from the Bahamani Kingdom in 1512 and established the fortress city of Golconda. Inadequacy of water, and frequent epidemics of plague and cholera persuaded Mohammed, the fifth Quli Qutub Shahi ruler to venture outward to establish the new city with the Charminar at its center and with four great roads fanning out in the four cardinal directions. The once Hyderabad which was known for Domes and Minarets has now become "Cyberabad" an investor's paradise land in the field of Information Technology.

Ram Dutt Malji, a Haryanvi pearl trader, became a royal jeweler.Hyderabad is the main center for pearl jewelry in India and is famous world over. It is the largest center for pearl trading in the world and sells about 40-50 thousand kilograms of pearls per year. The erstwhile Nizam rulers of Hyderabad laid the foundation of pearl jewelry in the 19th century. Different types of pearl necklaces are made in Hyderabad. Typical designs being Satlada (seven strands of pearls set with emeralds, diamonds and rubies, Kundan Ranihar (pearl sets with enamel kundan work), and the regular Jugni sets (several strands of pearls with a central pendant) and many more. |

| After recording an impressive export last year, a second wave of Information Technology development is set to hit Andhra Pradesh.The strategy adopted during the last decade from 1992-93 in particular for promoting Andhra Pradesh as a IT hub bore fruits in attracting many IT majors to come to Hyderabad."Now we are trying to replicate this success by adopting an all together different strategy," B V Naidu, STPI Hyderabad, director told PTI."STPI is working jointly with the government of Andhra Pradesh to set in motion the development. We are developing four incubation centres for IT development in Vizag, Vijayawada, Tirupati and Kakinada. The incubation centre at Tirupati is likely to be operational by the end of January, 2006," he said. |

Hussain Sagar located in the heart of the city bifurcates it into Secunderabad and Hyderabad. The Musi river passing through the middle of Hyderabad city flows in an easterly direction. |
