Rudhramadevi is an upcoming Telugu historical film, directed by Gunasekhar in 3D.
The film is being dubbed into Tamil and Malayalam.
The film has an ensemble cast including Anushka Shetty, Allu Arjun, Rana Daggubati, Vikramjeet Virk, Prakash Raj, Krishnam Raju, Nithya Menon, Baba Sehgal and Catherine Tresa.
Anushka will play the role of Rudrama Devi, a 13th-century queen of Kakatiya dynasty.
The film's soundtrack and background score were composed by Ilaiyaraaja.
The art direction is handled by Thotta Tharani. Neeta Lulla is designing the costumes.
Director Gunasekhar readied a script based on the life of Rani Rudramadevi. Anushka, Nayanthara and Priyanka Chopra were considered for the title role but Anushka was signed based on her performance in Arundhati.
The film is made on a budget of 60 crore.
Mahesh Babu and Jr. NTR were first approached for the role of Gona Ganna Reddy, but neither of them acted in the film. Later Allu Arjun came forward himself to do the role.
The shooting of the film was started on 14 February 2013 in Warangal.
The first shot was shot at the Thousand Pillar Temple in Warangal.
The film's official trailer was released in February 2014.
The film was slated to be released on June 26, 2015, but it was postponed due to technical problems.
