Mercedes-Benz to hike prices by up to Rs 5 lakh

Mercedes-Benz India on Wednesday said it will hike prices of its vehicles by up to Rs 5 lakh from March 15 in order to offset the impact of infrastructure cess and luxury tax proposed in the Union Budget 2016-17.

The price increase would be between 3 per cent and 5 per cent depending on the model, leading to a price hike between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh.

German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz today launched limited edition of Edition E in the E-Class series.

The series will be priced at Rs 48.60 lakh. The announcement is part of Mercedes' celebration of 20 years in India.

New Delhi, Feb. 7: Mercedes-Benz India, which had a dream run in 2015 with sales of 13,502 units, is likely to face the heat this year following a ban on vehicles with two-litre diesel engines in the national capital region (NCR).

"It (the ban) came as a massive surprise to us. It is very unfair. We have been totally affected by this," said Roland Folger, managing director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, at the Delhi Auto Expo 2016.

Priced at Rs.86.40 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai) the model is the first so-called performance SUV coupe launched by the company in India.


Mercedes has recovered from VW diesel hit: Dieter Zetsche

Mercedes-Benz has recovered from an initial hit to sales of its diesel vehicles due to the Volkswagen emissions-cheating scandal, Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche has said.

"For some time the entire industry was affected" by the VW scandal, Zetsche, who is also head of Mercedes-Benz Cars, said on the sidelines of the Detroit auto show.


Mercedes sells 13.5K units in 2015, to launch 12 products this year

German luxury carmaker Mercedes- Benz today said it posted record sales of 13,502 units in India last year as compared with 10,201 units in 2014, a significant jump of 32%, and is planning to add 12 'fascinating' new products to its portfolio in 2016.

By registering sales of 13,502 units in the January- December 2015 period, the company also achieved its highest sales volume in a single calendar year in India ever since its inception, Mercedes-Benz India said in a statement.


M&M, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota move SC on New Delhi's ban on diesel vehicles

Aggrieved carmakers have joined hands and moved the Supreme Court against Delhi government's order the ban on diesel vehicles registration.

On Monday, Mahindra & Mahindra, Toyota and Mercedes-Benz moved the Supreme Court seeking a modification in the order calling for a ban on the registration of diesel cars/ SUVs above 2,000 cc engine in the NCR region.


Daimler launches Mercedez-Benz Super High Deck coach

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Pvt. Ltd. (DICV), a 100 per cent Indian subsidiary Daimler AG, today announced the start of sales of the Mercedes-Benz coach - the Super High Deck SHD 2436. First set of buses was handed over to a customer in Chennai.

The luxury coach is manufactured out of its plant in Oragadam. The seating capacity of upto 61 pushback seats and 14 cubic meters, the bus was built with an aluminique body, this coach is the lightest in its class offering ultra -fuel efficiency, company said in a release.
