Hyundai Motor Co said it will lower the price of its Tucson fuel cell electric vehicle by 43 per cent in South Korea and consider cutting prices of the car overseas to compete with models from the likes of Toyota Motor Corp. The South Korean automaker, the world's fifth biggest when paired with sister Kia Motors Corp, hopes to popularise fuel cell cars in its home market by cutting the price of the Tucson ix to 85 million won ($77,189). |

Korean automaker Hyundai's new sports utility vehicle will be bigger than Ford Ecosport, which is the bestseller in the sub-four meter segment. Slated for launch in the second half of this calendar year, the all-new SUV from Hyundai will be pitted against the Ford SUV but will be "roomier, more powerfull and have the characteristics of a true SUV," said a top Hyundai India official. |

Hundreds of employees of NVH India Auto Limited, one of the suppliers for Hyundai Motor India Limited, went on a sit-in-strike, after a South Korean national (learnt to be the company’s managing director) allegedly assaulted an employee. A video, which was uploaded on YouTube, shows a Korean national standing on the victim. However, the authenticity of the video could not be ascertained. The video went viral on the social media. |

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today reported 21% jump in total sales at 59,365 units in December 2014. The company had sold 49,078 units in the same month last year, it said in a statement. In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 32,504 units last month as compared to 28,345 units in December 2013, up 14.7%. |

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today reported an increase of 8.7% in total sales at 54,011 units in November 2014. The company had sold 49,681 units in the same month last year, it said in a statement. In the domestic market, Hyundai sold 35,511 units last month as compared to 33,501 units in November 2013, up 6%. |

Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors on Monday raised their target for 2014 global sales to at least 8 million vehicles, anticipating record-high China sales to offset slowing growth in the United States and Europe. According to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers Association (SIAM) while entry level model Alto continues to lead the best selling model chart, Maruti’s compact sedan Dzire moved up to the second spot ahead of popular premium compact Swift, which has slipped to the fourth spot behind WagonR. |
