The BSE benchmark, the Sensex was trading 137.58 points or 0.53% lower at 25,757.39 points, while the NSE's Nifty was trading 48.70 points or 0.63% lower at 7,672.60 points at 9.45 am IST. On Thursday, the US markets cracked after Argentina announced that it had defaulted on its debt. The Dow Jones closed 1.88% lower, while Nasdaq ended 2.09% lower on Friday. |

MUMBAI: The benchmark BSE Sensex declined by over 33 points in early trade today as participants indulged in reducing their positions ahead of monthly expiry in the derivatives segment. The 30-share barometer, which had gained 96.19 points in yesterday's trade, slipped by 33.59 points, or 0.13 per cent, to 26,053.83 with IT, banking, realty, teck and power stocks leading the fall. |

BSE Sensex fell over 61 points in early trade today on selling by funds and retail investors ahead of monthly expiry in the derivatives segment amidst lower-than expected corporate earnings by some firms. The 30-share barometer, which had lost 280.62 points in the previous two sessions, moved down by another 61.40 points, or 0.29 per cent, to 25,929.83 with capital goods, realty, metal and healthcare stocks leading the fall. |

The benchmark BSE index Sensex today retreated from record high by losing over 25 points in early trade as investors booked profits in recent outperformers, mainly capital goods, oil and gas and power sector stocks. The 30-share barometer, which had gained 1,140.35 points in the past seven sessions, shed 25.91 points, or 0.10 per cent, to 26,121.42. The gauge had closed at a new record high of 26,147.33 yesterday. |

Benchmark indices ended flat on Friday amid reports that a Malaysian airlines crashed on Thursday near the Ukraine-Russia border after being hit by a missile. The 50-unit S&P CNX Nifty ended above the 7,600 mark on Friday, while the benchmark BSE Sensex ended the week in the green. On Friday, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth $97.36 million, while domestic institutional investors sold $47.99 million, according to provisional data on the exchanges. In YTD, FIIs have bought $11.81 billion worth of shares. |
