The real estate investment trust (REIT) invests in health care properties consisting primarily of skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). Aviv leases its facilities to local, regional, and national operators throughout the US. The REIT's portfolio includes more than 150 properties with some 15,000 licensed beds in 20 states. Operators include Daybreak, Cathedral Rock, and Sunbridge. Although the REIT was formed in 2008 to pursue an IPO, the company has been in the business of financing operators of SNFs for more than 25 years through predecessor entities.
