Taking risks that might scare off other commercial insurance companies, Armed Forces Benefit Association (AFBA) provides group life insurance products for military personnel, government employees, police officers and firefighters, and defense department contractors. The not-for-profit membership association was established in 1947 and has some 300,000 members; its policies contain no war or terrorism restrictions.
