The company expanded by buying key operating assets of former rival Caribbean Star, including additional Dash 8s. Before the acquisition was completed in 2007, LIAT and Caribbean Star had formed a commercial alliance that integrated many of their operations. Among LIAT's major shareholders are the governments of several Caribbean nations, including Antigua, Barbados, the Grenadines, and St. Vincent.
