The organization's more than 30,000 members benefit from services including professional development, advocacy, and research. NMA also publishes a quarterly journal, The Journal of the National Medical Association. It works to promote healthy lifestyles and equity in healthcare for African Americans and other at risk populations by providing national education campaigns on cancer, heart disease, stroke, AIDS, women's health, asthma, and other health issues.
